Airbag system
The airbag system is identified
by
airbag on the steering wheel.
The airbag system comprises:
I an airbag with an inflator in the steering
wheel,
I the control electronics with impact sensor,
I the airbag system control indicator 3% in the
instrument panel.
The airbag system is triggered:
I depending on the severity of the accident
the word
I depending on the type of impact
I within the range shown in the illustration.
Examples:
I Impact against a non-yielding obstacle: the
airbag is triggered at low vehicle speed.
I Impact against a yielding obstacle (such as
another vehicle): the airbag is only triggered
at a higher vehicle speed.
The speeds, directions of movement and
deformation properties of the vehicles, and
the properties of the obstacle concerned,
determine the severity of the accident and
triggering of the drivers airbag.
When triggered, the airbag inflates in
milliseconds and forms a safety cushion for
the driver. The forward
movement
driver is checked and the risk of injuries to the
upper body and head thereby substantially
reduced.
No impairment of view will occur, because the
airbag inflates and deflates so quickly in an
accident.
