2. Remove the knobs from the top of the mower
deck securing the right side baffle (Figure 18).
3. Lift the baffle and slide it out of the interlock
with the left side baffle (Figure 18).
Note: Only the right side baffle needs be
removed for side discharge mowing. Retain all
fasteners to return to mulching mode.
4. Install the bolts (5/16 x 5/8 inch) and locknuts
(5/16 inch) from the baffle in the open holes
of the mower for safety (Figure 18).

Open holes in the mower expose you and
others to thrown debris which can cause
severe injury.
• Never operate the mower without
hardware mounted in all holes in the
mower housing.
• Install the hardware in the mounting
holes when you remove the recycling
baffle.

Installing the Recycler®
Bafe
Install the right side baffle to convert from side
discharge mode to mulching.
1. Thoroughly clean the mower.
2. Remove the bolts and nuts in the holes needed
for the baffle (Figure 18).
3. Install the bolts (5/16 x 5/8 inch) and locknuts
(5/16 inch) in the right side baffle.
4. Place the right side baffle inside the cutting
chamber so the extended lug interlocks with
the left side baffle (Figure 18).
5. Secure the baffle with the curved washers and
knobs removed previously (Figure 18).

Side Discharge

The mower has a hinged grass deflector that
disperses clippings to the side and down toward
the turf.
Without the grass deflector, discharge
cover, or complete grass catcher assembly
mounted in place, you and others are
exposed to blade contact and thrown debris.
Contact with rotating mower blade(s) and
thrown debris will cause injury or death.
• Never remove the grass deflector from
the mower because the grass deflector
routes material down toward the turf.
If the grass deflector is ever damaged,
replace it immediately.
• Never put your hands or feet under the
mower.
• Never try to clear discharge area or
mower blades unless you move the PTO
to Off and rotate the ignition key to Off.
Also remove the key and pull the wire off
the spark plug(s).

Operating Tips

Fast Throttle Setting
For best mowing and maximum air circulation,
operate the engine at Fast. Air is required to
thoroughly cut grass clippings, so do not set the
