• Do not drop the drive or apply any physical shock to it. The drive is sensitive to physical shock. Improper
handling can cause damage and permanent loss of data.
• Before removing the drive, have the user make a backup copy of all the information on it if possible.
• Never remove the drive while the system is operating or in suspend mode.

Mind the following guidelines before you replacing the storage drives:
• If the computer has only one hard disk drive, install the hard disk drive in the slot
• If the computer has only one M.2 solid-state drive, install the solid-state drive in the slot
• The M.2 solid-state drive slots support both SATA solid-state drive and Non-Volatile Memory Express
(NVMe) solid-state drive. If you install two M.2 solid-state drives, ensure that the two M.2 solid-state
drives are of the same type.
After replacing the storage drives, you might need to configure the storage drive boot order in the ThinkPad
Setup program. Ensure that you select the correct storage drive when you configure the settings.
