and 20°F. If the tap water contains a lot of li-
mescale use a mix composed of 50% tap wa-
ter and 50% demineralised water which is wi-
dely available to purchase. Do not use pure
demineralised water.
Warning: check the hardness of the water at
the technical office at your local council or
the local water supplier.
If you only use tap water, you can reduce the
formation of limescale by using the special
Kalstop limescale product, distributed by Pol-
ti, and available for sale at all major domestic-
appliance stores or online at www.polti.com.
Never use distilled water, rain water or water
containing additives (e.g. starch, perfumes),
or water produced by other domestic ap-
pliances, by water softeners or filter jugs.
Do not use chemical substances or deter-
gents.

1. PREPARING FOR USE

1.1 Remove the appliance from the packaging,
checking that the product is whole and that
all the parts are there.
1.2 Unscrew the safety cap (1) and fill the boi-
ler with 1.6 l of water (if completely empty),
making sure it does not overflow, using the
special funnel (2). Carefully screw the safety
cap back on, checking that it is completely
closed.
1.3 Open the door of the one-piece socket and
insert the moulded plug until a click is heard
(3). Make sure that it is firmly connected befo-
re proceeding any further. To release the
sheath, simply press the release keys and at
the same time remove the moulded plug.
The steam gun has a safety switch that pre-
vents the accidental starting of the steam de-
livery by children or people unfamiliar with
how the appliance works (4)-(5).
1.4 For the Smart_Airplus model only, the
steam gun has a tank to be used exclusively
with FrescoVapor, the natural deodorant that,
besides leaving a pleasant fragrance, also
captures bad smells. To use FrescoVapor, pro-
ceed as described in Chapter 16.
1.5 Connect the cable plug to an earthed
power supply of the correct voltage (6).
Completely unwind the power cable before
plugging it into the mains and before use, and
always use the appliance with the power ca-
ble completely unwound.
1.6 Press the ON/OFF switch. The power indi-
cator light will come on.
1.7 Wait for the pressure indicator lamp to li-
ght up (about 10 minutes). Vaporetto is now
ready for use.
WARNING: if steam is escaping from the sa-
fety cap, switch the appliance off and unplug
it from the mains. Wait for one two for the ap-
pliance to cool before unscrewing the cap
and screwing it back on.
WARNING: Never leave the filling bottle or
the funnel resting on the mouth of the boiler,
with the product connected to the power
supply, since this could cause burns.
WARNING: When first operating steam, the-
re may be some drops of water mixed with
the steam due to temperature imbalances.
Direct the first jet of steam onto a rag.

2. CONNECTION OF ACCESSORIES

Some accessories are contained in the ac-
cessory holder (15).
2.1 To connect the extension tubes to the grip,
the large brush and the lance joint, simply join
them to one another until the accessory
locking button clicks into place (9). To relea-
se the
accessories simply hold the button
down and separate the components (9).
Before using the accessories, make sure that
they are firmly in place.
2.2 To connect the small brush, the steam
concentrator, and the brush accessories to
the flexible hose or the extension hoses, they
must first be attached to the steam lance, so
that the two arrows located on the two com-
ponents line up (11)-(12). Then, connect the
accessory adapter turning it until it is locked
to accessory (13).
3. STEAM ADJUSTMENT
You can optimise the steam flow by means of
the steam adjustment knob (8). You can in-
crease the steam flow by turning the control
in an anti-clockwise direction. Turning it in a
clockwise direction reduces the steam flow.
Here are some suggestions for the choice of
steam flow level:
• Strong steam: for encrusted dirt, stains, sa-
nitising, grease.
• Normal steam: for carpets, rugs, glass, tiles
etc.
• Delicate steam: for vaporising plants and
