Accidents can be avoided – please follow these safety instructions:
- Check your FIREFLY scooter each time before you take it out and make sure that all the locks,
levers, nuts and bolts are securely tightened. Check that the wheels are correctly attached and
that there are no signs of wear. Make sure that the steering tube is locked at the required height.
- Always wear a helmet, wrist, elbow and knee guards, as well as shoes with rubber soles when
you ride your FIREFLY scooter.
- Don't ride down steep paths because the integrated brake doesn't offer reliable protection for
this.
- The folding mechanism may only be operated by an adult.
- FIREFLY is using a brake feather brake system. To activate brake, apply firm pressure on rear
fender with right or left foot.
- The brake pad becomes very hot – avoid direct contact with your skin after braking, as you may
be burned. Avoid applying the brake continuously for a long period.
- Don't ride any faster than 10 km/h (6.2 mph)
- Avoid streets, roads and other places where there is traffic.
- Pay attention on public highways and always follow the Highway Code.
- Never carry a second person on board your FIREFLY scooter.
- Clean the scooter with a soft, moist cloth after each use. You should also clean the bearings
regularly using a soft, moist cloth and grease them periodically, exchange if necessary.
- Do not lean too heavily on the handlebars since this could cause the tube to bend slightly, thus
preventing proper operation of the scooter.
- Check screws at least every 3 weeks and tighten them. Always use screw securing agent.
- Spray movable of the folding mechanism at least every 3 weeks with some penetrating oil and
wipe it afterwards.
- Check steering set after about 4 weeks and re-adjust, if necessary.
- Don't use the FIREFLY scooter on wet, oily, sandy, dirty, icy, rough or uneven surfaces. Never use
it at dusk or night.
- You should not change anything on the scooter itself as this could reduce the safety.
- Self-locking connections may lose their ability and should be changed regularly.
- Sharp edges should be removed immediately to prevent injuries.
- Avoid doing stunts – ride your FIREFLY scooter according to your own ability.
- Don't make any modifications to your FIREFLY scooter that could endanger your safety.
- Supports up to 50 kg (model A120) resp. up to 100 kg (models A125, A145, A200)
- Attention: If you keep loosening the axle screws, the screw locking devices will become less
effective.
WarnInGs
Just like riding a bike or skateboard or inline skating, riding a FIREFLY scooter can be dangerous
and may lead to accidents, even in the best conditions.
Always wear a safety-tested helmet whenever you're riding your FIREFLY scooter. Tighten the chin
strap. A fall without wearing protective gear can lead to serious or even fatal injuries. Your grip on
the road, braking and visibility are impaired in rain. In wet weather, the risk of accident and injury
is much greater. It is dangerous to ride your FIREFLY scooter at dusk, at night or when visibility is
restricted, and there is a greater risk of accident and injury. Be careful of your fingers when op-
erating the folding mechanism. They may be crushed if you don't pay attention as you open and
close the FIREFLY scooter. Children may only use the FIREFLY scooter in the presence of an adult.
Important warnings for small children
Our FIREFLY scooter A120 has been developed as sports equipment for children weighing up to 50
kg. The A120 is tested at the SGS Product Service in accordance with the latest European Directives
EN 71. Our FIREFLY scooters A125, A145 and A200 have been developed as sports equipment for
children and adults weighing up to 100 kg, which are tested at the SGS Product Service in accord-
ance with the latest European Directives EN 14619. However, if small children ride these FIREFLY
scooters, we would ask their parents or those supervising them to heed
following tips:
1. Adults should ideally set the height of the steering rod such that it is at least 20 cm lower
than the child's chin. The quick-release lever should then be closed and the bolt tightened on
the other side using the appropriate size of Allen key so that the quick-release lever can't be
undone by a child.
2. Children should only ride their scooters under the watchful eye of an adult, always wear com-
plete protective gears and suitable footwear and never ride on the road or in the dark.
