Install front wheel

Malfunctions may occur
during control interventions
by ABS if a wheel other than the
standard wheel is installed.
Please see the information on
the effect of wheel sizes on the
ABS system at the beginning of
this chapter.
Threaded fasteners not
tightened to the specified
torque can work loose or their
threads can suffer damage.
Always have the tightening
torques checked by a specialized
workshop, preferably an
authorized BMW Motorrad
retailer.
Mount spacing bushing 1 on
left side in wheel hub.
Lubricate quick-release axle 1.
Lubricant
Optimoly TA
The front wheel must be
installed right way round to
rotate in the correct direction.
Observe the direction of rota-
tion arrows on the tires or on the
rim.
Roll front wheel into front sus-
pension.
Quick-release axle is not
correctly tightened.
After the brake caliper is fastened
and the spring fork is relaxed,
tighten the quick-release axle and
axle clamping with the specified
torque.
Raise front wheel and mount
quick-release axle 1 and fasten
loosely.
