Increasing Speed While Using Cruise
Control
There are two ways to go to a higher speed:
Use the accelerator pedal to get to the higher
J
speed. Press the
button and the accelerator pedal. The vehicle now
cruises at the higher speed.
Move the band on the multifunction lever from on
to the +RES position. Hold it there until the vehicle
reaches the speed desired, and then release the
band. To increase the vehicle speed in small
amounts, move the band on the multifunction lever
to the +RES position and release it. Each time this
is done, the vehicle goes about 1.6 km/h (1 mph)
faster.
Reducing Speed While Using Cruise
Control

Press the
SET button until the lower speed desired
is reached, then release it.
To slow down in small amounts, tap the button briefly.
Each time this is done, the vehicle goes about 1.6 km/h
(1 mph) slower.

Passing Another Vehicle While Using
Cruise Control
Use the accelerator pedal to increase your vehicle's
speed. When you take your foot off the pedal, the
vehicle slows down to the cruise control speed that
was set earlier.
Using Cruise Control on Hills
How well the cruise control works on hills depends upon
the vehicle speed, load, and the steepness of the hills.
While going up steep hills, you might want to step on
the accelerator pedal to maintain the vehicle speed.
While going downhill, you might have to brake or shift
to a lower gear to keep the vehicle speed down. When
the brake or clutch is applied the cruise control is
disengaged.
Ending Cruise Control
There are four different ways to turn off the cruise
control:
Step lightly on the brake pedal (manual and
automatic transmissions).
Press the clutch pedal to the floor (manual
transmissions).
Turn off cruise control by pressing
Shift the transmission to N (Neutral).
