Appliance Setup

A. Fixed Glass Assembly
WARNING! Risk of Asphyxiation! Handle fi xed glass
assembly with care. Inspect the gasket to ensure it is
undamaged and inspect the glass for cracks, chips or
scratches.
• DO NOT strike, slam or scratch glass.
• DO NOT operate fi replace with glass removed, cracked,
broken or scratched.
• Replace as a complete assembly.
Removing Fixed Glass Assembly
1. Remove the decorative front from fi replace and set
aside on work surface.
2. Locate the glass latches that are on the upper edge of
the glass frame of the appliance. See Figure 11.1.
3. Use both index fi ngers to release the glass clips.
4. Allow glass to tilt forward. Grasp glass on the upper
return lip of glass frame and lift up and out. The glass
should lift easily out of the bottom retaining lip.
Replacing Fixed Glass Assembly
1. Locate retaining lip on lower front face of fi rebox.
2. Place glass assembly into retaining lip end. Tilt top of
glass assembly toward fi replace.
3. Assure proper left to right placement of glass and en-
gage all four spring latches.

B. Remove the Shipping Materials
Remove shipping materials from inside or underneath
the fi rebox. Verify all components are with the fi replace.

C. Clean the Appliance
Clean/vacuum any sawdust that may have accumulated
inside the fi rebox or underneath in the control cavity.
D. Install Media
A media kit is included with the CRAVE models. Install
rock media according to these instructions.
WARNING! Choking Hazard! Keep media out of reach
of children.
CAUTION! Risk of Burns! The fi replace should be turned
off and cooled before media is installed.
CAUTION! Risk of Cuts, Abrasions or Flying Debris.
Wear protective gloves and safety glasses during instal-
lation. Sheet metal edges are sharp.
Cleaning the Media
During shipment of the media, dust and debris can
accumulate. It is recommended that the media be rinsed
thoroughly with water to remove dust and small particles.
An easy method to clean the media is to place the media
into a pail and rinse thoroughly. Spread the media out
over paper towels and allow the media to dry before
installing them into the fi replace.
INSTALLATION
1. Choose 7 - 10 round pieces of media approximately
1/2 inch in size and set them aside. These will be used
later to conceal the pilot end of the burner. Reference
Figure 1 for choosing round pieces of glass.
WARNING! Risk of Explosion! DO NOT put any fl at
media pieces larger than 1/2 inch in diameter near pilot.
Delayed ignition could occur. Use only round 1/2 inch
pieces near pilot.
