Metering adjuster

The metering adjuster with an electromagnetic
actuator for controlling the injection volume is
located in the distributor-type injection pump.
Functional description
With the aid of a control shaft, the
electromagnetic actuator changes the position of
the control slide valve. When activated by the
engine control unit, the position of the control
slide valve is changed axially thus constantly
varying the injection volume between "minimum"
(idle speed) and "maximum" (full throttle).

Effect
If the metering adjuster fails due to a defect, the
engine is shut down by means of the fuel shut-off
valve.
