9 Checking the refrigerant level
If refrigerant is insufficient, the cooling efficiency will
be diminished. Therefore, check the refrigerant
level from time to time. The refrigerant level can be
checked by setting the air conditioner to maximum
cooling (by placing the fan speed dial to the high
speed position) and looking into the sight glass
the receiver. The refrigerant is sufficient if no bub-
bles are visible through the glass when the air con-
ditioner is being operated. If bubbles are visible, the
amount of refrigerant is insufficient. You can have
your system charged at an authorized dealer.

: Sufficiently charged
CAUTION
Running the air conditioner without refriger-
ant will damage the air conditioner compres-
sor. Check the refrigerant level if the air
conditioner stops working efficiently.
To protect the environment, your vehicle's
Z17376
air conditioning system uses refrigerant
HFC-134a which does not harm the ozone
layer.
Since charging the system with this refriger-
ant requires a method different from the con-
ventional method, be sure to contact an
authorized dealer if your system needs to be
serviced.
Using any refrigerant other than the HFC-
134a will cause a malfunction of the air con-
ditioning system. Be sure to use only the
HFC-134a.
NOTE:
Do not release refrigerant gas into the atmosphere.
When the air conditioning system requires servicing
or when you discard the vehicle, ask your nearest
dealer to do this so that they can collect the refriger-
ant gas.
10 Cleaning the air filter
Clean the air filter every 6 months.
A dust clogged air filter may cause a poor air condi-
tioning performance and blower motor malfunction.
