Malfunctions

If the battery charger does not work it will usually indicate what
is wrong:
Malfunction/indication
LED 'ON' off.
LED 'ON' flashing.
LED 'TEMP' on, as a result of the battery
charger being at too high a temperature.
LED 'FUSE' on.
LED 'BATT' on.
Combined battery charger / battery splitter BCS1225, BCS1245, BCS2425, BCS2445
Possible cause
Battery charger not connected.
No mains voltage (quayside voltage).
Mains On/Off switch is off.
Mains voltage too low.
LED printed circuit board connection
broken.
Batteries not connected or wrongly con-
nected.
Short circuiting or overloading of the bat-
tery charger.
Temperature sensor not connected or
bad connection between battery charger
and temperature sensor. *)
Extremely high environmental tempera-
ture.
Ventilation openings are blocked.
Battery charger is set up in a badly ven-
tilated area.
Battery charger is set up near to a heat
source.
Defect in the battery charger, e.g. a
defect ventilator.
Charging current fuse defect.
Battery connections with reverse polar-
ity.
Incorrect charging current fuse.
Current charging fuse does not connect
properly in the fuse holder.
Incorrect setting of the battery charger.
Battery voltage too high.
Temperature sensor short circuited. *)
*) Only if the battery charger has a temperature sensor.

Solution
Switch battery charger on.
- Check mains voltage! If it is ok, con-
tact service department!
- Fuse in mains connection defect,
replace fuse.
Switch on mains switch.
Restore bad connections or use mains
cable with larger cable diameter.
Restore connection.
Check the connections of the charging
current cables and the polarity terminals
of the battery.
Resolve the short circuiting or overload-
ing.
Connect a temperature sensor or restore
the bad connections
Allow the battery charger to cool down.
Free up the ventilation openings.
Set up elsewhere.
Set up elsewhere.
Have the battery charger repaired.
Replace the charging current fuse.
Connect the PLUS and the MINUS cor-
rectly.
Replace with the correct fuse.
Restore the connection fuse-holder.
Check and amend the setting.
Load the battery to lower the battery
voltage.
Connect the temperature sensor prop-
erly.
