Blindstitch
Blindstitchingprovidesadurablehemfinishthat
can be used on a variety of different weight
fabrics. Blindstitching takes a little practice,
however,somakeatestsamplefirst.

Preparethehembyfoldingitandpressingitin
theusualway.Youmaywanttobastethehemto
holditinplace,asshown.Ifso,besuretoplace
the basting at least ½"(12mm) below thetop
edgeofthehemallowance.
With thewrongsideoffabricuppermost,turn
the hem under,asshown,creatingasoftfold
fromthetopedgeofhem.Pinorbasteallthree
layerstogetherinplace.
Positionthehemunderthepresserfootwiththe
softfoldrestingagainst wall of the guide, as
shown.
•Lower the presser foot and begin sewing,
makingcertainthestraightstitchesfallonthe
edgeofthehemandthezig-zagstitchesfall
on the edge of the hem and the zig-zag
stitchesjustpiercethesoftfoldofthework.
Adjust stitch width if necessary. While
stitching,guidethehemedgeinastraightline
andfeedthesoftfoldevenlyagainsttheedge
oftheguide.
•Iflayersoffabricarepinnedtogether,remove
p i n s a s y o u c o m e t o t h e m . D o not sew over
pins.
