    Hearing/Ear Protection ECHO recommends wearing hearing protection whenever unit is used. Breathing Protection Operators who are sensitive to dust or other common airborne allergens may need to wear a dust mask to prevent inhaling these materials while operating unit.

    The 50 or 300 hour emission compliance period is the time span selected by the manufacturer certifying the engine emissions output meets applicable emissions regulations, provided that approved maintenance procedures are followed as listed in the Maintenance Section of this manual.     Locate the safety decal(s) on your unit. Make sure the decal(s) is legible and that you understand and follow the instructions on it. If a decal cannot be read, a new one can be ordered from your ECHO dealer. See PARTS ORDERING instructions for specific information.

DO NOT pull rope all the way out or allow the handle to snap back, damage to the starter will occur.     The ECHO product you purchased has been factory pre-assembled for your convenience. Due to packaging restrictions, some assembly may be necessary. After opening the carton, check for damage. Immediately notify your retailer or ECHO Dealer of damaged or missing parts. Use the contents list to check for missing parts.

    Fuel Alternative fuels, such as E-15 (15% ethanol), E-85 (85% ethanol) or any fuels not meeting ECHO requirements are NOT approved for use in ECHO 2-stroke gasoline engines. Use of alternative fuels may cause performance problems, loss of power, overheating, fuel vapor lock, and unintended machine operation, including, but not limited to, improper clutch engagement.

    Periodic carburetor adjustment may be necessary to assure blades do not move at idle. If blades move, readjust carburetor according to “Carburetor Adjustment” instructions in this manual or see your ECHO Dealer. 6. Throttle Trigger After engine warm-up, grip the throttle handle with left hand and support handle with right hand. Depress the throttle trigger lockout, and gradually depress throttle trigger (E) to increase engine RPM to operating speed.

    Move stop switch (A) to STOP position. If engine does not stop when stop switch is moved to STOP position, close choke - COLD START position - to stall engine. Have your ECHO dealer repair stop switch before using unit again.

    Never remove hands from unit when blades are moving. For more information scan this QR code. The engine continues running even when the blades have stopped due to an obstruction.     If you are unsure or are not equipped with the necessary tools, you may want to take your unit to an ECHO Service Dealer for maintenance. To help you decide whether you want to DO-IT-YOURSELF or have the ECHO Dealer do it, each maintenance task has been graded.

    When servicing model year 2012 and later equipment, only fuel supply hoses certified by EPA can be used to replace the original equipment supply hose. Fines up to $37,500 may be enforced for using an un-certified replacement part X7502256206 © 2/2015 ECHO Inc.

    1. Remove muffler cover. 2. Remove starter cover (B). 3. Use brush to remove dirt from the cylinder fins. DO NOT use a metal scraper to remove dirt from the cylinder fins. 4. Assemble components in reverse order. X7502256206 © 2/2015 ECHO Inc.

    6. Tighten muffler mounting bolts (or nuts) to 90-110 kgf•cm (80-95 in •lbf). 7. Install engine cover and attach spark plug lead. 8. Start engine, and warm to operating temperature. 9. Stop engine, and re-tighten mounting bolts (or nuts) to specifications. X7502256206 © 2/2015 ECHO Inc.

    This engine has been factory adjusted to maintain satisfactory starting, emission, and durability performance up to 1,100 feet above sea level (ASL) (96.0 kPa). To maintain proper engine operation and emission compliance above 1,100 feet ASL the carburetor may need to be adjusted by an authorized ECHO service dealer.

    5. Apply clean oil to the entire length of the blade. Be certain the blade bolts are lubricated. 6. Wipe excess oil from the blade before putting the unit back in service. Gear Box Level 1. Parts Required: Lithium Based Grease. X7502256206 © 2/2015 ECHO Inc.

    Leave room for the grease to expand during operation 3. Wipe excess grease from around grease fitting. Blades Blades should only be removed and reinstalled by an Authorized ECHO Servicing Dealer, otherwise premature wear or internal damage may occur. Sharpening Level 2.

    Any misuse from contact with concrete, rocks, or other structures is not covered by this warranty. • ECHO’s Rapid Loader String Head carries a lifetime warranty on the line locking system, parts only; no labor. Refer to your operator’s manual for string head installation and maintenance instructions.
