STeP 2: iNSTAlliNG The ThroTTle PuShrod Wire
PRO TIP To ensure that your throttle pushrod is installed properly, it's important the your engine's throttle arm be positioned on the
left side of the engine (flip your engine's carburetor around if necessary). The throttle pushrod wire also has to clear the side of the
fuel tank, so a bend will need to be made where the pushrod wire exits the firewall and before the servo.
q Mark the location of the throttle pushrod exit hole on the firewall. For our
Magnum XL .52RFS 4-stroke engine, we positioned the pushrod exit hole
1-1/2" (38mm) up from the bottom of the fuselage and 5/8" (16mm) in from the
fuselage side.
IMPORTANT Mark the position of the hole as close to the same height as
the throttle arm as possible and as close to the throttle arm as possible, but
still far enough away to keep from hitting the fuel tank.
q Drill a 5/32" (4mm) diameter hole through the firewall for the pushrod wire.

You may need to remove the engine and motor mounting beams to make
it easier to drill the hole accurately.
q Make several bends in the throttle pushrod wire to clear the fuel tank and line
1/2"
up with both your engine's throttle arm and the servo arm.

IMPORTANT The measurements of the bends shown are for a Magnum
5-1/8" (130mm)
XL .52RFS 4-stroke engine. You may need to make slightly different bends
1-1/4" (32mm)
depending on the engine you're using.
q Remove the throttle arm from your engine, install the Z-Bend in the pushrod
wire into the outermost hole in the throttle arm, then slide the pushrod wire
through the hole both in the firewall reinstall the throttle arm.
q Open and close the carburetor several times to ensure that the pushrod
wire does not bind.
STeP 3: iNSTAlliNG The AdjuSTAble PuShrod CoNNeCTor
q Cut away all but one arm from a "4-point" servo horn, then enlarge the hole
in the servo arm that is 5/8" (16mm) out from the centre of the servo horn, using
a 5/64" (2mm) diameter drill bit.
q Install the adjustable pushrod connector onto the servo arm, making sure
not to tighten the nut too tightly. You don't want the pushrod connector loose,
but it should be able to rotate without binding.
IMPORTANT To prevent the nut from loosening during flight, apply a drop of thin C/A to it.

q Temporarily place one nylon mounting bracket onto the horizontal section
of the nose skid.
q Cut one tab off of one nylon mounting bracket and place it over the vertical
section of the nose skid, with the remaining mounting tab toward the centre of
the nose skid.
q Place the nose skid onto the firewall and align it. The edge of the horizontal
nylon mounting bracket (A) should be even with the bottom of the fuselage and

the edge of the vertical nylon mounting bracket (B) should be 1/4" (6mm) in from
the fuselage side.
q When satisfied with the alignment, mark the locations of the three mounting
holes onto the firewall.

q Drill three 5/64" (2mm) diameter pilot holes through the firewall at the marks
you drew, then install the two nylon mounting brackets, using three M3 x 12mm
wood screws, to hold the nose skid in place.
q Install the remaining nylon mounting bracket, using two M3 x 12mm wood
screws to secure the nose skid to the bottom of the fuselage. Again, make sure
to drill two 5/64" (2mm) pilot holes through the fuselage for the wood screws.
