    Introduction Introduction To The Portable Hard Drive The Addonics Technologies ExDrive is a small, lightweight and portable 2.5” Hard Disk Drive which comes in capacities starting at 2GB. The unit is external and uses the PCMCIA socket or USB port, so there is no need to open up your computer since there are no cards to install, and no special tools are required for installation.

    1. Make sure the power is off on both your computer and the ExDrive. 2. *For empty ExDrive case users only: • PCMCIA and USB installation are the same. a). Press down the middle of the case and pull it apart.

  • Page 9 d). Get ready to put everything back together. Note: Do not connect power at this time Connect the Portable Hard Drive to your computer’s PCMCIA or USB port with the supplied PCMCIA or USB cable. Turn on your computer and Portable Hard Drive’s power. Get ready to plug in the device.

    USB devices do not support Windows 95 and Windows NT. For USB users: 1. Make sure your ExDrive is powered on and the USB cable is attached, then plug the USB cable into your computer. 2. The Windows 98 will find the new hardware when you plug in the device at the first time, and it will ask you to insert the driver diskette.
  • Page 11 3. After you insert the diskette, don’t just click OK. Click on the down arrow sign next to the browse button. 4. Select A: (Assuming your floppy disk drive letter is A), and click “Browse”.

    5. Look into the “USB Win98” folder to highlight the “falstaff.sys” file, and then click OK. 6. Click OK again to start installing the driver. 7. Now Windows will start to install the driver.     (b) Make sure the drive was securely connected to the PCMCIA socket or USB port of your computer. Problem: The power light of the ExDrive is lit, and the Device Driver was installed correctly. However, the system can’t assign a drive letter for it.
