™ 2 – SMARTUBE ™ MICROPHONE PREAMPLIFIER OWNER’S MANUAL DESCRIPTION: ST2 is a two-channel, single rack space voice processor – channel strip. It is designed for direct recording with special attention to the logical signal-flow layout and added features. The main purpose is to get the signal from the input audio source to the recorder as clean and directly as possible.
HIGHLIGHTS: • Two separate full channel strips in a single rack-space unit • Front panel Mic/Line jacks • Separate Insert Send and Return jacks • Solid-state tube-sound processor (SmarTube ™ • Expandability – Daisy-chaining of multiple units • Affordability • Multicolor LED meters •...
CONTROL FUNCTIONS: BALANCED MICROPHONE INPUT XLR, low impedance (2.2 k Ohm), balanced microphone input. Pin 2 is the positive and pin 3 – the negative phase. PAD SWITCH This pad switch attenuates the signal (reduces the sensitivity) on the microphone input with 20 dB.

LINE GAIN This Gain control varies the gain of the Line input. The gain ranges from Off, 0 dB (center detent), to +10 dB. LOW EQ A shelving type of active tone control that varies the frequency range below 80 Hz by +/-15 dB. LOW MID A band pass (boost/cut) type of active tone control that varies the signals within the selected low-frequency range with +/-15 dB.

ST LED This bicolor LED is off when the SmarTube ™ circuit is off-line (full CCW position (20) - Off). It starts blinking in green as the amount of tube-effect increases until it reaches nominal level - around the center detent position (N) of 20. The color of this LED gradually turns red as the addition of tube-effect increases and gets closer to maximum (MAX).

LINE INPUT: This is a 1/4" (TRS) balanced line-level, high-impedance (200 k Ohm) input for high and instrument level signals. The tip is the positive phase and the ring – the negative. An unbalanced, (instrument), 1/4" (TS) connection can also be made at this input. This connector duplicates the front panel Line input.
