ELECTRIC STARTER
STARTER MOTOR
REMOVAL
Remove the seat (page 3-4).
Remove the recoil starter cover (page 3-4).
Disconnect the negative (-) cable from the battery.
Remove the two bolts and right engine cover.
Slide the rubber cap off the starter motor cable ter-
minal and remove the terminal nut and starter
motor cable.
Remove the two mounting bolts, battery (-) cable
and the starter motor from the crankcase.
Remove the O-ring from the starter motor.
TERMINAL NUT, MOTOR CABLE BOLTS
DISASSEMBLY/INSPECTION
Remove the following:
- motor case bolts
- O-rings
- setting plates
| BOLTS, O-RINGS, PLATES
Record the location
and number of
shims.
front cover
lock washer
insulated washer
shims
seal ring
RING SHIMS FRONT COVER
INSULATED WASHER
LOCK WASHER
