B. Design and Installation Considerations
NOTICE: Check building codes prior to installation.
•
Installation MUST comply with local, regional, state and
national codes and regulations.
•
Consult insurance carrier, local building inspector, fire
officials or authorities having jurisdiction over restrictions,
installation inspection and permits.
•
Before installing, determine the following:
-
Where the fireplace is to be installed.
-
The vent system configuration to be used.
-
Gas supply piping.
-
Electrical wiring
-
Framing and finishing details.
-
Whether optional accessories - devices such as a
fan, wall switch or remote control - are desired.
1. Selecting Fireplace Locations
This fireplace may be used as a room divider, installed
along a wall, across a corner or used in an exterior chase.
See Figure 2.2.
Locating the fireplace in a basement should be avoided.
Locating near frequently opened doors, central heat outlets
or returns, or other locations of considerable air movement
can affect the performance.
