Reassemble the Rotor
1. Tighten the rotor nut firmly by hand
(Figure 7).

2. Make sure the shaft is not loose. If the
shaft is loose, see your authorized
Yanmar marine dealer or distributor.
3. Install the rotor. Turn the rotor by hand
to make sure that it rotates easily
(Figure 8).

4. Install the bowl and tighten the lock nut
to 15 N·m (133 in.-lb) (Figure 9, (1)).
Be careful not to damage the rotor
shaft, nut or bowl while tightening the
lock nut.

Functional Inspection
The rotor spins very fast and should
continue to turn when the engine has
stopped.
To check rotor rotation:
1. Stop the engine after it is warm.
2. Listen for a whirring sound from the
rotor or check if the cleaner housing is
vibrating.
• The rotor normally continues spinning
for 30 - 60 seconds after the engine
has stopped.
• If the rotor does not spin for 30 - 60
seconds after the engine has stopped,
disassemble it and inspect the parts
for damage.
