3. Close the drain taps (Figure 19, (1),
(2)) and replace the heat exchanger
plugs (if equipped).
4. Fill the coolant recovery tank with
coolant through the expansion tank fill
hole (Figure 19, (3)). See Engine
Coolant on page 40 for refilling coolant.

Clean the Coolant System

A
DANGER
SCALD HAZARD!
• NEVER remove the coolant
filler cap if the engine is hot.
Steam and hot engine coolant
will escape and seriously burn
you. Allow the engine to cool
sufficiently before attempting
to remove the filler cap.
• Securely tighten the filler cap
after checking the coolant
level. Steam can escape during
engine operation if the cap is
loose.
• Failure to comply will result in
death or serious injury.

• Wait until the engine cools
before draining seawater from
the cooling system. Hot
seawater may splash and burn
you.
• Failure to comply could result
in death or serious injury.
