    Loading Rolls in the Printer With the edge of the roll paper facing forward as shown, insert the Roll Holder from the right of the roll. Insert it firmly until the roll touches the flange (a) of the Roll Holder, leaving no gap.

  • Page 24 Replacing Ink Tanks iPF8400 • Depending on the color, you can also use an ink tank with a different capacity. Note Precautions when handling ink tanks Take the following precautions when handling ink tanks. • For safety, keep ink tanks out of the reach of children.
  • Page 25 Replacing Ink Tanks If a message requests you to replace an Ink Tank, press the OK button. In this case, you can skip the step Access the menu for ink tank replacement. Follow the instructions in Remove the ink tanks.
  • Page 26 Replacing Ink Tanks iPF8400 Lift the stopper (a) of the Ink Tank Lock Lever for the color to replace. Lift the Ink Tank Lock Lever until it stops, and then push it down to the front. • Push the Ink Tank Lock Lever down until it locks.
  • Page 27 Replacing Ink Tanks Remove the Ink Tank (700 ml) Open the Ink Tank Cover of the tank for replace- ment and check the Ink Lamp. The Ink Lamp flashes quickly if there is no ink left. • Avoid hitting the printer when replacing an Ink Tank. Handle the printer gently when replacing tanks. Jolting the printer during printing may deteriorate print quality.

Important Press the OK button and insert the Ink Tank into the holder facing as shown, with the ink holes down.

Important • Do not open the Printhead pouch until immediately before installation. After removing the Printhead from the pouch, install it right away.

Pressing this button in menu items of each tab for which is displayed at left will move to the lower level of the menu item, enabling you to execute menu commands or set menu values.

    • Be sure to contact your Canon dealer before transferring the printer to a new location. Ink may leak and damage the printer if you do not prepare the printer correctly and it is tipped or stood on end in transit.

  • Page 77 Preparing to Transfer the Printer Removing Ink Tanks Open the left and right ink tank covers. Lift the stopper (a) of the Ink Tank Lock Lever (a). Lift the Ink Tank Lock Lever until it stops, and then push it down to the front.

Neglecting to attach the Belt Stopper may damage the printer.

    Reinstalling the Printer Close the Top Cover. Tape down printer covers to secure them, in the reverse order of tape removal during installation. Remove the Output Stacker by reversing the installation procedure. Remove the Stand by reversing the installation procedure, when it was attached to the printer.
  • Page 82 Reinstalling the Printer iPF8400 Install the printer Mount the printer on the assembled Stand and tight- en the screws firmly. • Moving the printer requires at least six people, holding it on both sides. Be careful to avoid back strain and other injuries.
  • Page 83 Reinstalling the Printer Remove tape and packaging material attached to the printer. Also open the Top Cover and remove stoppers and spacers inside the printer. Connect the power cord to the Power Supply Con- nector on the back of the printer.
