Causes
Remedies
No ignition discharge
Ignition piezo broken.
Change the piezo.
Ignition electrode broken or incorrectly positioned.
Change the electrode or position it correctly (see fig. 16).
False contact between terminal and cable.
Screw the terminal onto the igniter cable fully.
No pilot discharge
No gas.
Open the gas cock.
Air in the piping.
Vent as specified in the ignition section.
Pilot nozzle obstructed.
Clean the nozzle with compressed air.
Low gas flow rate.
Adjust the flow rate with the valve screw.
Poor pilot light
Wrong flame setting.
Check that the gas pressure is regular.
Pilot burner dirty.
Clean the pilot unit with compressed air.
Pilot light goes out
Thermocouple defective.
Check or change the thermocouple.
Poor flame.
Adjust the flame, with the screw on the gas valve, until it envelops the thermocouple.
Uncertain contact with the coil.
Tighten the union on the gas valve.
No ignition of the main burner
No power.
Wait for power to return.
Nozzles obstructed.
Clean the nozzles carefully.
Defective gas valve.
Repair or change the gas valve.
Fume thermostat trips.
Check for any obstructions in the flue and lastly reset the fume thermostat by hand.
Pilot burner explosions
No gas.
Check the main burner gas pressure.
Boiler dirty.
Check and clean the boiler shell.
Burner dirty.
Check and clean the burner.
