3.21 FLOPPY DISK FORMAT
This command executes FDD fonnatting.
3.21.1 Program Description
CAUTION: This program is only for testing af/oppy disk drive. The program is
differentfrom the MS-DOS FORMAT command.
This program can fonnat a floppy disk (5.25-inch/3.5-inch) as follows:
(1) 2D: Double-sided, double-density, 48/67.5 TPI, MFM mode, 512 bytes,
9 sectors/track.
(2) 2DD: Double-sided, double-density, double-track, 96/135 TPI, MFM mode,
512 bytes, 9 sectors/track.
3.21.2 Operations
1. After running MS-DOS, insert the Diagnostics Disk in the floppy disk drive. Type
in A:FDFMT and press Enter. The following message will appear:
DIAGNOSTICS - FLOPPY DISK FORMAT : Vx.xx
Drive number select (1=A:,2=B:)
?
2. Select a drive number. Type the number and the following message will appear:
Type select (O:2DD-2DD,1:2D-2D,2:2D-2H,3:2HD-2HD) ?
3. Select a media/drive type number. Type the number and a message similar to the one
below will appear:
Warning : Disk data will be destroyed.
Insert work disk into drive A:
Press any key when ready.
