REMOTE CONTROL OpERATION INSTRUCTIONS
Key Lock
This function will lock the keys to avoid unsupervised operation.
To activate this function, press MODE and UP keys at the same
time. A Lock and Key icon will appear to the right of the tempera-
ture icon.
To deactivate this function, press MODE and UP Keys at the
same time.
Low Battery Detection
The life span of the remote control batteries depends on various
factors: quality of the batteries used, the number of ignitions of
the appliance, the number of changes to the room thermostat set
point, etc.
When the Transmitter batteries are low, a Battery icon will appear
on the LCD display of the Transmitter (Figure 48) before all bat-
tery power is lost. When the batteries are replaced, this icon will
disappear.

Using the Insert Without a Remote Control
Remove the decorative front and outer surround (page 29) to ac-
cess the module. With the ON/OFF rocker switch in the ON posi-
tion, press with SW1 button on the module. The module will beep
3 times to indicate that it is ready to synchronize with a remote. If
no remote is found, the module will enter Manual Mode and the
flame and pilot will light. The insert can now be turned ON and
OFF with the rocker switch. To enter Remote Mode again, follow
the initialization sequence in 15C.
Battery Backup Operation
To operate the insert on Battery Backup, remove the decorative
front and outer surround to access the module. Locate the battery
holder and install 4 AA batteries into it. The insert will now oper-
ate without flame level adjustment or fan.
LOW BATTERY DETECTION MODULE
When the module batteries are low, a double-beep will be emitted
when it receives an ON/OFF command. No more commands
will be accepted until the batteries are changed or the insert is
plugged in.
