Camera
Problem
Picture is too dark.
Camera does not
turn on.
Picture is too light.
Cause
Flash is not on or
did not function.
The subject is too
far away for the
flash to have an
effect.
The subject is in
front of a bright
light (backlit).
Batteries are not
properly installed.
Batteries are too
weak.
The flash is not
needed.
The subject was too
close when the
flash was used.
The light sensor is
covered.
Solution
Turn on the flash (page 15).
Move so the subject is less than
8.2 ft (2.5 m) away.
Change your position so the
light is not behind the subject.
Remove and reinstall the
batteries (page 2).
Install new batteries.
Turn the flash off (page 15).
Move so there is at least 1.6 ft
(0.5 m) between the camera
and the subject.
Hold the camera so your hands
or other objects do not cover
the light sensor.
