Conditional problems

Problem
The camera shuts off
unexpectedly.
The camera does not recognize
your memory card.
Ready light does not turn on
and the camera does not work.
Ready light is red.
Ready light is amber.
The image on your monitor is
jagged or inappropriately
colored.
Troubleshooting
Cause
Batteries are low.
The camera display
has been on a long
time causing the
camera to overheat.
The memory card
may not be ATA
compatible or
CompactFlash
certified.
Batteries are low or
empty.
Camera is not on.
No memory card in
camera or the memory
card is full.
Camera is too close to
the subject.
Monitor is not set
correctly.
Solution
Replace the batteries or
use the AC adapter.
Leave the camera off to
allow it to cool.
Whenever possible, do
not leave the camera
display on.
Memory cards must be
ATA compatible and
CompactFlash certified
to work with the
camera.
Replace the batteries or
use the AC adapter.
Pictures remain in the
memory when the
batteries are removed.
Turn on the camera and
verify that the green
Ready light is on
Insert a new memory
card.
Move the camera to a
minimum of 0.3 m
(1 ft) from the subject.
Adjust your monitor
display settings. See
"Monitor adjustment"
on page 10-2.
