If the person you are calling has a separate number for Direct Connect, make sure you dial any

asterisks (*) in the number. If you are saving the number in your Contacts, choose DC ONLY for
the phone type.
If the person you are calling has a single number for both voice calls and for Direct Connect, use
n
that ten-digit phone number to make Direct Connect calls. You do not need to add any asterisks
(*) to the number. If you are saving this number in your Contacts, choose other than DC ONLY
for the phone type.
Tip: One way to easily ensure that your contacts have your correct number is to call them so that
they can save your number from their Call logs. Ask them for their contact information. Remember
you will need all digits of the number to make a successful call. Also, if they have a separate number
for Direct Connect, you will need to enter asterisks (*) between sets of numbers.
Save a Direct Connect Number
You can store Direct Connect numbers in your Contacts just like traditional phone numbers.
1. Use your dialpad to enter a Direct Connect number.
The Direct Connect number may be the ten-digit wireless phone number of the contact.

The Direct Connect number may be a unique number made up of three sets of digits

separated by asterisks (for example, 444*5555*111). When saving this type of number,
always include the asterisks (*).
2. Press Menu
> Add to contacts.
3. To add the number to an existing contact, touch the contact, select a number type for the new
number, and then touch OK.

To add the number as a new contact, touch CREATE NEW CONTACT, enter the name and
any additional information, and then touch DONE. See Add a Contact.
When selecting a number type for the entry:

Select DC ONLY if the Direct Connect number is different from the wireless phone
o
number. Make sure to include the asterisks (*) between the sections of a DC ONLY
number.
Select other than DC ONLY if the wireless phone number and the Direct Connect
o
number are the same.
Display Your Direct Connect Number
Your Direct Connect number and other information about your phone and account will be displayed.
