Cleaning sensitive

motorcycle parts

Plastics
Clean plastic parts with water
and BMW plastic care emul-
sion. This includes in particu-
lar:
Windshields and wind de-
flectors
Headlight lens made of
plastic
Covering glass of the instru-
ment cluster
Black, unpainted parts
If plastic parts are
cleaned using unsuitable
cleaning agents, the surfaces
can be damaged.
Do not use cleaning agents
that contain alcohol, solvents
or abrasives to clean plastic

parts.

'Fly sponges' or sponges with
hard surfaces can also lead to
scratches.
Soften stubborn dirt and
dead insects by covering
the affected areas with a wet
cloth.
Windshield
Clean off dirt and insects with
a soft sponge and plenty of
water.
Fuel and chemical sol-
vents attack the wind-
shield material; the windshield
becomes cloudy or dull.
Do not use cleaning agents.
Chrome
Especially in the case of road
salt, carefully clean chrome
parts with a great deal of wa-
ter and BMW auto shampoo.
Use chrome polish for addi-
tional treatment.
Aluminum parts
To clean aluminum parts, use
suitable cleaning agents like
those offered by your autho-
rized BMW Motorrad retailer.
Especially in the case of road
salt, clean aluminum parts
with plenty of water and BMW
auto shampoo.
Radiator
Clean the radiator regular-
ly to prevent overheating of
the engine due to inadequate
cooling.
For example, use a garden
hose with low water pressure.
Cooling fins can be bent
easily.
When cleaning the radiator,
ensure that the fins are not
bent.
