To connect a Multi-Media LT DVR to a point-of-sale (POS) device—a cash register,
automatic teller machine (ATM), and so on—a device is needed for Protocol Interface
Translation (PIT) or Network Protocol Interface Translation (NetPIT). Rapid Eye Multi-Media
LT DVRs support PITs and a NetPIT, for attaching many serial devices to a DVR.
A PIT can provide communications for one device (AVBPIT1) or up to four devices
(AVBPIT4POS). A NetPIT device provides communications for up to 16 POS devices from
one serial port.

AtmPIT.
Port Restrictions
Only one NetPIT device can be supported; only one can be assigned to a Multi-Media LT
port. Up to 16 POS devices can be assigned to a NetPIT device.
