The MSP3410
IC2101
perform digital demodulation and decoding of
NICAM-coded TV stereo sound, as well as
demodulation of FM-mono TV sound. Alternatively,
two carrier FM stereo can also be processed within
the MSP3410 IC2101.
However when receiving an AM sound carrier the
demodulation is still carried out in the IF stage, from
here the AM sound is fed to the MSP3410
for further processing.
The
MSP3410
IC2101
advantages :
1.
Two selectable analogue inputs
2.
Automatic Gain Control (AGC) for analogue
input
3.
Integrated A/D converter for sound I.F. inputs
4.
All demodulation and filtering is performed on
chip and individually programmable
5.
Simple switching between NICAM standards.
(B/G, I and L)
6.
No external filter hardware required
7.
Only one crystal clock required (18.432MHz)
8.
FM carrier detection for carrier mute function

20.1.1.Architecture of the MSP3410
The diagram below shows a simplified block
diagram of the MSP3410 IC2101. Its architecture is
split into three functional blocks:
1.
Demodulator and decoder section
2.
Digital
signal
performing audio baseband processing
3.
Analogue section containing two A/D converters
and 8 D/A converters and channel selection.
