Breakdown of the Colour-enabled market

Perhaps not surprisingly, the lower end machines have historically dominated the market, since they offer a relatively
cheap way of introducing colour output to the office.
However, it seems that the dominant 21-30ppm segment has hit a plateau, with its strong growth coming to an end
in 2007. Surprisingly, the 1-20ppm segment is still doing well, but is not growing in terms of unit sales.
However, the 31-40ppm and 41-50ppm markets have both shown consistent growth, and are predicted to do so at
least until the end of 2008, and probably beyond.

The MX-5000N/01N & MX-4100N/01N may not technically fit into the 31-40ppm segment, but given that they
replace a 35ppm machine they are definitely aimed at it, and the speed of the Sharp machines should be an excellent
selling point!
The 31-40ppm market is the second-largest segment of the A3 MFP colour market, and is growing at 35% CAGR
since 2006 H1.
The 41-50ppm accounts for a much smaller percentage of the market, but is very much in its infancy, and is
therefore growing at a much faster rate .
