4.4 RS-232C Adjustment Mode

4.4.1 Connection method

Perform the connections as shown below.
Plasma display
1) Connector pins on the display side:
EXTERNAL CONTROL pins

2) External device side connector pin:
Serial port (RS-232C) pin
For the type and pin assignment of the pins, see the
specifications of the connected device.
3) Wiring method
Use the cross (reverse) cables.
The data lines for the sets, "RXD (Receive Data) and TXD
(Transmit Data)", "DTR (Can be prepared on the DTE side)"
"DSR (Can be prepared on the DCE side)" and "RTS
(Request to Send) CTS (Can Transmit)", are wired between
the devices with cross cables.
4) Multiple unit control method
To control multiple plasma displays with a single PC, use
the serial splitter box and ignore the ACK after transmission
of the command.

Command 1
Like command 2, it is a number that distinguishes
commands. To use an ID to operate it, set bit1 and bit0 as
shown below.
Bit1 Bit0 Unit ID discrimination bit
1 1 : normal format (No ID)
1 0 : ditto
0 1 : set ID
0 0 : video wall ID
In the case of ACK, the lower 4 bits show that the
command or the data that are supported have been
received during FG as 3FH or 7FH. The lower 4 bits show
that the command or the data that are not supported have
been received during BH as 3BH or 7BH.
Unit ID1, 2 (UA1, UA2)
This is a number that identifies the connected device.
60H means the display and 80H means the PC or other
external control apparatus.
1 Unit ID1: This indicates the device that transmits the
signal. To support the set ID with command 1, set the
lower 4 bits of the set ID.
2 Unit ID2: This indicates the device that receives the sig-
nal. To support the set ID with command 1, set the
lower 4 bits of the set ID.
* Set ID: Device number assigned to the plasma display
Command 2
It is a number that distinguishes between commands. But
it distinguishes them based on data added by the same
command.
