    This UP406 deskset is not a stand-alone telephone. You must purchase the UP416 console and connect this telephone to the console before use. This system is not compatible with any other VTech 4 line business telephones, except for the UP416 console and UP407 handset.

Make sure you have completed the installation and basic setup of the UP416 console, before you proceed with the installation of your deskset. • Do not power up the deskset until you have plugged in the Ethernet cable as instructed in step 4.
