Do NOT place combustible objects within 4 ft (1.2 m) of
the front of fireplace. Figure 28.1.
WARNING
Fire Risk.
Do not place combustible objects within 48 inches
in front of the appliance.
High temperatures may ignite clothing, furniture or
draperies.
Maintain 4 ft (1.22m) clearance to
combustible in front of appliance

ISSUES
Odor from appliance
When first operated, this appliance may release an odor for the first several hours. This is
caused by the curing of the paint and the burning off of any oils remaining from manufacturing.
Metallic noise
Noise is caused by metal expanding and contracting as it heats up and cools down, similar to
the sound produced by a furnace or heating duct. This noise does not affect the operation or
longevity of the appliance.
Whirring sound
The blower may produce a whirring sound which increases in volume as the speed is
increased.

M. Correct Baffle & Blanket Placement
Fire Risk
Firebox damage due to improper baffle place-
ment is not covered by warranty. Operate the
wood burning appliance with the baffle in the
correct position only.
Not doing so could result in:
• Reduced efficiency
• Overheating the chimney
• Overheating the rear of the firebox
• Poor performance
Ensure correct baffle placement and replace baffle com-
ponents if damaged or missing.
These are generic drawings and may not represent

CORRECT POSITION
Ceramic Blanket
Baffle Board
Ceramic Blanket and Baffle Board MUST be
in contact with the back of the firebox and
even with each other in the front.
