4.1

Document feed mechanism

4.1.1 Document feed mechanism
• The leading edge detection sensor mounted on relay board/1 detects a document that
has been properly loaded in the document feeder.
• The document stopper establishes the leading edge position of the document loaded in
the document feeder. The stopper is lowered in the standby state and raised when the
document is taken up and fed in.
• The document stopper is raised and lowered in synchronism with the raising and lower-
ing motion of the pick-up roller.
• The pick-up roller and feed roller turn to take up and feed the original properly.
• The pick-up roller transports the original up to the feed roller.
• The transport motor drives the pick-up roller and feed roller through a gear train and the
feed clutch.
