  • Page 9: Installation Guidelines

    Before you begin to install power supply modules (also called power modules) in your BladeCenter unit, read the following information: v You do not need to disconnect the BladeCenter unit from power to install or replace any of the hot-swap modules on the rear of the BladeCenter unit.

    System reliability considerations To help ensure proper cooling and system reliability, make sure that: v Each of the module bays on the rear of the BladeCenter unit has either a module or filler module installed. v Each installed power modules must be connected to an ac power source. Do not use a power module as a filler.

    Note: These instructions assume the BladeCenter unit is connected to power. 1. Remove the acoustic module, if any, from the rear of the BladeCenter unit. 2. Remove the module fillers from the bays. 3. Ensure that the release levers on the modules are in the open position (perpendicular to the module).

    1. Remove the acoustic module, if any, from the rear of the BladeCenter unit. 2. Disconnect the power cable of the first power module (power module 1 or power module 3) from the 220-volt power distribution unit (PDU) or from the 220-volt ac power outlet.
  • Page 14 6. Push the release lever on the front of the power module closed. 7. Disconnect and remove the power cable from the power module that was removed from the BladeCenter unit. Attention: Different power module models might use different power cords.

Upgrade all management modules installed in the BladeCenter unit to the latest level of management-module firmware.     Country-unique Terms, and Part 3 - Warranty Information. The terms of Part 2 replace or modify those of Part 1. The warranties provided by IBM in this Statement of Limited Warranty apply only to Machines you purchase for your use, and not for resale.
  • Page 18 Machine Code or software updates, or with a CRU, IBM or your reseller, if approved by IBM to provide warranty service, will either, at its discretion, 1) repair it to make it function as warranted, or 2) replace it with one that is at least functionally equivalent.

Governing Law Both you and IBM consent to the application of the laws of the country in which you acquired the Machine to govern, interpret, and enforce all of your and IBM’s rights, duties, and obligations arising from, or relating in any manner to, the subject matter of this Statement of Limited Warranty, without regard to conflict of law principles.
  • Page 21 Limitation of Liability: The following is added to this section: Where IBM is in breach of a condition or warranty implied by the Trade Practices Act 1974 or other similar legislation, IBM’s liability is limited to the repair or replacement of the goods or the supply of equivalent goods.

  • Page 27 In case IBM or your reseller is unable to repair an IBM Machine, you can alternatively ask for a partial refund as far as justified by the reduced value of the unrepaired Machine or ask for a cancellation of the respective agreement for such Machine and get your money refunded.
