Common Radio Features

Selectable Power Level

This feature lets you select the power level at which your radio will
transmit. This feature must be preprogrammed by a qualified radio
technician.
Select Low for a shorter transmitting distance and to conserve
power.
Select High for a longer transmitting distance.
Place the preprogrammed TX
Power Level switch in the High
Power or Low Power
position.

Conventional Squelch Operation

Tone Private Line (PL), Digital Private-Line (DPL), and carrier squelch
can be available (preprogrammed) per channel.
When in
Carrier squelch
PL or DPL

PL Defeat

With this feature, you can override any coded squelch (DPL or PL)
that might be preprogrammed to a channel.
Place the preprogrammed PL
Defeat switch in the PL Defeat
position. You can now hear any
activity on the channel. The radio
is muted if no activity is present.
ASTRO XTS 5000 Model I
This condition occurs
You hear all traffic on a channel.
The radio responds only to your
messages.
