c. Scroll to the Bay 1 (Ethernet SM)* section; then, click Advanced
Management.
d. Scroll to the Start Telnet/Web Session section; then, click Start Telnet
Session. This will start a new Telnet session and connect to the Nortel
Networks Layer 2-7 GbE Switch Module for IBM Eserver BladeCenter
management-module Web interface.
e. Log in to the Nortel Networks Layer 2-7 GbE Switch Module for IBM
Eserver BladeCenter management-module Web interface. The default
password is admin.
f. Type n and then press Enter when prompted to run Setup Up to configure
the Nortel Networks Layer 2-7 GbE Switch Module for IBM Eserver
BladeCenter.
6. Update the Nortel Networks Layer 2-7 GbE Switch Module for IBM Eserver
BladeCenter operating-system image:
Note: There are two operating-system images (image 1 and image 2) in the
Nortel Networks Layer 2-7 GbE Switch Module for IBM Eserver
BladeCenter. This I/O module usually starts image 1. However, you
must determine which operating-system image is being used before you
update the firmware for this I/O module.
a. At the Telnet prompt, type /boot/cur to determine which operating-system
image is being used. The output from the /boot/cur command will specify
the image that is being used. The text of the output is similar to Currently
set to boot software image1.
Note: You must use image 2 for the command in the next step if the
output from the /boot/cur command states that image 2 is currently
empty.
b. At the Telnet prompt, type /boot/gtimg imageX TFTPAddr
GbESM-AOS-x.x.x.x-os.img.
where:
imageX is the name of the operating-system image (image 1 or image 2)
that was determined in the previous step
TFTPAddr is the IP address of the TFTP server on your production network,
where the image files are located
x.x.x.x is the firmware code level of the Ethernet switch module
Press Enter.
c. Type y and press Enter when prompted to confirm the download operation.
d. Wait for the flash operation to be completed.
Note: Type y and press Enter to start from the new image if you had to
update the image 2 file because it was previously empty.
e. Type exit and press Enter to terminate the Telnet session.
f. Close the window in which the Telnet session was running.
7. Restart the Nortel Networks Layer 2-7 GbE Switch Module for IBM Eserver
BladeCenter:
a. In the navigation pane, click I/O Module Tasks → Power/Restart.
b. Select the check box next to your Nortel Networks Layer 2-7 GbE Switch
Module for IBM Eserver BladeCenter, labeled Ethernet SM, and click
Power Off Module(s).
c. Click OK to confirm.
