The Dual Mode (GSM/DECT) Phone

The TH 688 is a dual mode phone. This means that you can use it both
as a GSM mobile phone and as a cordless phone in a DECT network.
Provided you have made the required settings, it will use the DECT
network whenever you are in reach of it, and the GSM network
whenever you are out of reach of the DECT network.

mode only or GSM mode only. If you do this, your phone will work as a
cordless phone or a GSM phone respectively.

Handling the Networks

In the System mode menu, under the Networks menu, there are the
following options:
Auto
DECT
GSM
The default setting is Auto.
Auto
When the phone is in Auto mode, your phone connects to a DECT
network if there is one within range. If the phone is not within range of a
DECT network, it will search for a GSM network instead
If you make a call in GSM mode and enter a DECT network area, the
phone will switch to DECT mode after you finish your call. However, if
you make a call in DECT mode and exit the DECT network area, your
call will be interrupted and lost.
DECT
The phone only searches for and connects to a DECT network. No GSM
calls can be made and no Short Message Services (SMS) are available.

GSM
The phone only searches for and connects to a GSM network. No DECT
calls can be made.
Note! When you are in DECT mode, the Networks menu looks the same
as in GSM mode, but the menus are handling the DECT network
instead. It is not possible to make any changes in the GSM network
menu.
