5. Loosen the top and bottom
drive clutch cable lock nuts with
a 10 mm wrench. Move the
adjuster up or down, as
required, until the mower
operates as outlined in step 4.
Tighten the lock nuts.
BOlTOM LOCK
6. Move the throttle lever to the
STOP position and move the
shift lever to the fastest position.
7. With the engine stopped, perform the following:
a. Engage the drive clutch lever and pull the mower backward until
the wheels lock up.
b. Maintain wheel lock up and release the drive clutch lever.
c. Push the mower forward then pull the mower backward again.
d. Confirm that the mower rolls freely backward.
If the mower rolls freely backward, the cable adjustment is
completed. If the mower does not roll freely backward, continue
to step 8.
8. Hold the top lock nut and loosen the bottom lock nut. Tighten the
top lock nut in '/z-turn increments until the mower rolls freely
backward consistently. Hold the top lock nut and tighten the bottom
lock nut.
9. Pull the shift lever back to the neutral position. Start the engine and
engage the drive clutch lever. The mower should begin to
self-propel when the shift lever is moved one or two notches
forward. If the mower will not operate correctly, take the mower to
an authorized Honda servicing dealer.
