3. Remove any additional cables from the back of the device.
4. Flip up the locking tab on top of the mounting bracket.
5. Tilt the device forward, and lift it out of the mounting bracket.
6. Tilt the mounting bracket back into the flush-mount housing.

Locking the GPSMAP 600 Series Device in the Flush-Mount Housing
The GPSMAP 600 series flush-mount housing features a security lock for theft-deterrent purposes. The security lock is for deterrent purposes
only, and the best way to avoid theft is to remove the device and either take it with you or stow it out of sight when you leave the boat. You do
not need to engage the security lock to use the device under normal circumstances.
To engage the security lock, after you insert the device into the flush-mount housing, use the
supplied security screwdriver to tighten the security screw located to the left of the eject button.
When you tighten the security screw, it locks the eject button used to remove the device. Loosen the
security screw using the security screwdriver to unlock the eject button and remove the device from the housing.
note: You can connect the security screwdriver to a key chain.
Installing the Power/Data Cable
Connect the power/data cable attached to the GPSMAP 600 series flush-mount bracket to power, as well as to optional NMEA 0183 devices and
to an optional external audio device.
Connecting the Power/Data Cable to Power
Connect the power/data cable to the power source (from 11 to 32 Vdc) of your boat.
If it is necessary to extend the power wires, use 20 AWG wire.
If your boat has an electrical system, you might be able to wire the mount bracket directly to an unused fuse holder on your fuse block. If
you are using the fuse block, remove the supplied in-line fuse holder. You can also wire the mount bracket directly to the battery.
Use an AGC/3AG 2.5 A fuse as a replacement, if needed.
note: During a typical installation, use only the red and black wires. The other wires on the cable do not have to be connected for normal
operation of the GPSMAP 600 series device. For information on connecting to a NMEA 0183-compatible device, see below.
To connect the power/data cable to power:
1. Use a test light or a voltmeter to determine the polarity of the voltage source.
2. Connect the red (+ or positive) wire to the positive voltage terminal. If you use the fuse block on the boat, route the positive connection
through the fuse.
3. Connect the black (- or ground) wire to the negative voltage terminal.
4. Install or check the 2.5 A fuse on the fuse block or in the in-line fuse holder.
