Samsung NX200
Guide Book
Innovations in digital cameras,
Lens Priority Mode and i-Function Lens
The NX200 is newly equipped with a revolutionary shooting mode called
Lens Priority Mode. The function, one that is new to all cameras, enables
the camera to recognize the attached lens and select the best settings for
that lens. The previous i-Function has also been upgraded in the NX200
for user convenience. i-Function is only possible in digital cameras, and it
allows users to control those functions that were previously controlled from
the camera body directly from the lens. Users can press the i-Function
button on the lens, select a camera function (shutter, aperture, ISO, white
balance, exposure compensation) and rotate the control ring of the lens
(Samsung calls this feature the Value Ring) which is normally used as a
focus ring.
An upgraded i-Function 2.0 in the NX200 allows users to select and use
i-Effect and i-Zoom by setting the mode dial on the camera body to i
mode (Lens Priority mode) and pressing the i-Function button on the lens.
i-Effect allows users to select and use various lens filter effects from the
smart filter and scene modes suitable for a specific shooting environment
in a simple and convenient way.
Finally, i-Zoom allows users to employ digital zoom effects of up to 2x
zoom and extend the zoom range. This also enables users to make zoom
effects with a prime lens.
