Dolby Digital and DTS

≥Dolby Digital and DTS are digital encoding systems used on DVD
to carry surround sound. Both were originally developed for use in
cinemas.
≥This unit automatically recognizes and decodes these systems.
Software encoded with Dolby
Digital can be identified with
this mark.
Play a Dolby Digital or DTS source.
The Dolby Digital or DTS indicator lights.
DIGITAL
∫ To down-mix Dolby Digital or DTS (multiple-
channel) signals to 2 channels
Press [SHIFT]i[MIX 2CH].
To cancel, press [SHIFT]i[MIX 2CH] again.
When "D.MIX" flashes on the display [DVD-A]
The DVD-Audio contains multiple-channel signals that cannot be
down-mixed.

systems cannot be used. (Excluding "BASS/TREBLE" control)
≥You may experience a reduction in sound quality when these
sound field systems are used with some sources. If this occurs,
turn the sound field system off.

Dolby Pro Logic II

The Dolby Pro Logic II processor works not only on sources
recorded with Dolby Surround, but also on any stereo source.

[ÎPRO LOGIC II].
Each time you do this:
OFF>MOVIE>MUSIC>PANORAMA
^---------------------------------------------------}
MOVIE: Use this mode when playing movie software,
especially videotapes, recorded in Dolby Surround.
MUSIC: Adds surround effects to stereo sources.
PANORAMA: Sound is spread out more so you feel like you
are surrounded by music.

Play a Dolby Surround or stereo source.
To cancel
Select "OFF".

This does not work for AM radio broadcasts or multi-channel sources.
Adjusting the bass and treble with
manual equalizer
Press [EQ/SFC] several times to select
"BASS/TREBLE".

[3 4] j6 to i6 (in 2 units)
BASS: Press [2]

[3 4] j6 to i6 (in 2 units)
TREBLE: Press [1]
To cancel
Press [EQ/SFC] several times to select "FLAT".
≥The set level for "BASS" and "TREBLE" remains intact. (Even after
the unit is turned off.)
Using the built-in sound quality
settings (SFC–Sound Field Control)
This function derives multi-channel surround from any stereo
programme material.
Press [EQ/SFC] several times to select
"AV/MOVIE" or "SFC MUSIC".
AV/MOVIE: Press [2 1]

Press [EQ/SFC].
≥To cancel
Press [EQ/SFC] several times to select "FLAT".
≥Each mode remains intact. (Even after the unit is turned off.)
