Updating the phone

You can update the software in your phone to take advantage of software improvements and new features.
Note
Fully charge the battery before updating the phone.
We recommend connecting the phone to a power source while updating.
Back up all necessary data before updating the phone. Certain types of data, such as downloaded
data, will not be retained after updating the phone.
Certain settings will be reverted to the factory default values after the phone is updated. Configure
these settings again as necessary.
The phone cannot be used while updating. All apps and features, including making or receiving calls,
using communication features, etc., will be unavailable.
You cannot update the phone in the following situations:
When you are on a call
When aeroplane mode is turned on ("Turning aeroplane mode on and off" (page 19))
When tethering is turned on ("Configuring the phone as a Wi-Fi hotspot" (page 27),
"Using USB tethering" (page 69))
When the date and time settings are incorrect ("Setting the date and time" (page 18))
When the battery level is not sufficient for software update
Some third-party apps may not function properly after the phone is updated.
Once the phone has been updated, you cannot revert to an older version of the software.
If an error occurs while updating the phone, contact your regional Panasonic representative.

Downloading updates wirelessly

When software updates have been released for your phone, you can download them wirelessly.
Note
This feature requires an Internet connection.
To avoid additional data transmission charges, we recommend using a Wi-Fi connection to download
updates.
Checking for updates automatically
1.
From the Home screen, tap

Tap [About phone] ® [Software update] ® [Update from server] ® [Settings].
3.
Turn the [Auto search] checkbox on or off.
When the checkbox is turned on, the phone will connect to the network automatically at the preset
time and search for updates. When the checkbox is turned off, the phone will not search for updates
automatically.
4.
Tap [OK].
Checking for updates immediately
1.
From the Home screen, tap
2.
Tap [About phone] ® [Software update] ® [Update from server] ® [Software update].
3.
Tap [Yes] to check for updates immediately.
Tap [No] to cancel.
Information about any available updates is displayed.

Follow the on-screen instructions.
