CONNECTING
THE DRYER
TO HOUSE VENT
RIGIDMETAL TRANSITION DUCT
• Forbest drying performance, a rigid metal transition duct is
recommended.
• Rigidmetal transitions ducts reducethe risk of crushing and
kinking.
UL-LISTED FLEXIBLE METAL (SEMI-RIGID TRANSITION DUCT
• tf rigid metul duct cannot be used,then UL-listedflexible metul
(semi-rigid) ducting cun be used(KitWX08X10077).
Never instullflexible metul duct in wulls,ceilings,floors or
other enclosedspaces.
Total length of flexible metal duct shouldnot exceed8 feet
(2.4m).
Formany applications,installing elbowsat both the dryer
und the wull is highly recommended(seeillustrutions below).
Elbowsullow the dryer to sit close to the wall without kinking
and or crushing the transition duct, maximizing drying
performance.
Avoid resting the duct on sharp objects. UL-LISTED FLEXIBLE

tn Conuduund the United Stutes,only the flexible metul(foil-
type) ducts thut comply with the "Outlinefor ClothesDryer
TrunsitionDuct Subject2158A"shull be used.

Forbest drying performunce:
1. Slideone end of the duct overthe clothesdryer
outlet pipe.
2. Securethe duct with u clump.
3.With the dryer in its permunent position,extend the
duct to its full length. Allow 2"of duct to overlupthe
exhuust pipe.Cut off und removeexcessduct. Keep
the duct usstruight us possiblefor muximum uirflow.
4. Securethe duct to the exhuust pipe with the other
clump.

• tf your dryer is approvedfor installation in an alcove or closet,
it will be stated on a label on the dryer back.
• Thedryer MUSTbe vented to the outdoors.Seethe EXHAUST
INFORMATION section.
• Minimumcleurunce between dryer cubinet und udjucent
wulls or other surfacesis:
0 in. either side
3 in.front and rear
Minimumvertical spacefrom floor to overheadcabinets,
ceiling,etc. is 52 in.
Closetdoors must be Iouveredor otherwise ventilatedand
must contain a minimum of 60 sq.in. of open area equally
distributed, if the closet containsboth a washer and a dryer,
doors must contain a minimum of 120 sq.in,of open area
equally distributed.
Thecloset shouldbe vented to the outdoors to prevent gas
pocketing in case of a gas leukin the supply line.
Noother fuel-burning appliance shall be instulled in the some
closetwith the dryer.

• Thedryer MUSTbe vented to the outdoors.SeeEXHAUST
INFORMATION section 6.
• The instullationmust conform with Iocul codes or,in the
ubsenceof Iocul codes,with the NATIONAL FUEL GASCODE,
ANSIZ223.

• tnstullation must conform to the MANUFACTURED H OME
CONSTRUCTION & SAFETY STANDARD, TITLE24, PART 32-80
or,when such stundard is not applicuble,with AMERICAN
NATIONAL STANDARD FORMOBILE HOME,NO.50lB.
• Thedryer MUSTbe vented to the outdoors with the
terminution securelyfastened to the mobile home structure.

• Thevent MUSTNOTbe terminuted beneuth u mobileor
manufactured home.
• Thevent duct muteriul MUSTBEMETAL.
• KIT14-D346-33MUSTbe usedto uttuch the dryer securelyto
the structure.
• Thevent MUSTNOTbe connectedto uny other duct, vent, or
chimney.
• Donot usesheet metul screwsor other refusteningdevices
which extend into the interior of the exhaustvent.
• Provideun openingwith u free areu of ut leust 25 sq. in.or
introduction of outside uir into the dryer room.
