Cause
• Inadequate filtration/dirty filter
• Excessive oils/organic matter
• Improper sanitation/bacteria
• High pH and/or high alkalinity
• Suspended particles/organic matter
• High total dissolved solids (TDS)
• Excessive organics or chloramines;
insufficient free available sanitizer
• Improper sanitation
• Inadequate filtration
• Low pH
• Too many chloramines/insufficient free
available chlorine
• Low pH
• Low pH
• Bacterial or algae growth
• Build up of body oils, lotion and
chemicals resulting from soap or
detergent
• pH Imbalance
• Low free chlorine or bromine
Solution
• Check to make sure the filter is running
properly; clean filter with a filter cleaner
or degreaser.
• Shock the spa with a chlorine or
bromine sanitizer, or other shock
treatment product.
• Increase sanitizer level to balance water
and shock if needed.
• Adjust pH; add appropriate sodium
bisulfate product.
• Use clarifier.
Note: If using an ozone generator or
CleanZone™, consult your dealer before
using polymer based clarifiers.
• Depending on the severity, drain the spa
to half and refill, or drain the spa
completely, clean and refill.
• Shock the spa with a chlorine or
bromine sanitizer/shock, or other shock
treatment product.
• Increase sanitizer level to balance water;
shock if needed.
• Check to make sure the filter is running
properly; clean filter with a filter cleaner
or degreaser.
• Raise pH with sodium bicarbonate
product. If metals are present, add
chelating agent.
• Shock the spa with a chlorine
sanitizer/shock, or non-chlorine shock
treatment.
• Adjust pH; raise pH with sodium
bicarbonate product.
• Adjust pH; raise pH with sodium
bicarbonate product.
• Shock spa with a chlorine or bromine
sanitizer/shock, or equivalent shock
treatment product. If problem is visible,
drain, clean, refill and balance spa.
• Skim foam off using your leaf net or,
drain and refill.
• Adjust pH
• Shock with a chlorine or bromine
