Removing and replacing FRUs

Removing the low-paper sensor

This section provides the information needed to remove the low-paper sensor from a fiscal or fiscal ready
printer.
To remove the low-paper sensor, complete the following steps:
Note: Do not disconnect any cables other than the three wire low-paper sensor cable from the logic card.
1. Remove both the paper door and main covers (see "Removing the paper door cover" on page 41 and
"Removing the main cover" on page 44 for instructions).
2. If necessary, remove the fiscal tray (see "Removing the fiscal tray" on page 28).
3. Remove the logic card (see "Removing the logic card" on page 54 for information on how to remove
the logic card).
4. Remove the low-paper sensor cable from under the paper basket; then, remove the cable from the
cable guides on the left side of the unit.
Note: The low-paper sensor cable can be easily removed from the cable guides by removing one wire
of the cable at a time.
5. Release but do not remove the left lift spring ( B in Figure 36).
6. Rotate the low-paper selector ( A in Figure 36) to the wall mount position (as shown by C ); then,
turn the unit over and locate the low-paper sensor. Lift the sensor over the detent and continue to
rotate it counterclockwise till it stops.

7. Rotate the top of the low-paper sensor away from the unit, pulling it off its pivot point; then lift it up and
out of the unit.
