6.1 Overview

®
®
The Intel
Xeon
processor 7500 series and the Intel Xeon E7-4800 and E7-8800 product family are
designed specifically for high-end server applications. The processors feature up to ten-core
processing to maximize performance and performance/watt for data center infrastructures and
highly dense deployments. These processors also feature Intel Core™ micro-architecture and Intel 64
architecture for flexibility in 64-bit and 32-bit applications and operating systems.
The Intel Xeon processor 7500 series uses a 1567-contact Flip-Chip Land Grid Array (FC-LGA) package
that plugs into a surface-mount socket (Socket-LS). The PowerEdge R910 provides support for up to
four processors.
Selective processors in the Intel Xeon processor 7500 series and Intel Xeon E7-4800 and E7-8800
product family also support Turbo Mode. Turbo Mode is an OS-controlled operation that
automatically allows the processor to run faster than the marked frequency if the processor is
operating below power, temperature, and current limits.
