PROBLEM SOLVING

Problem
Espresso coffee no longer
drips out
The milk froth does not form
properly when making cap-
puccinos
The filter time of the coffee
is longer than expected
The coffee has an vinegary
aftertaste

Cause
The coffee has been ground too
finely
The hole in the spout of the filter
holder is clogged
The filter is obstructed
The milk is not cold enough
The steam nozzle
The filter is blocked with limescale
The machine has not been rinsed
adequately
Solution
Use coffee with a medium grind or the
kind made for moka coffee
Clean the hole in the filter holder
Clean the filter with hot water, scrub-
bing with an abrasive pad
Always use milk cold from the refrig-
erator
Carefully clean the holes of the steam
nozzle
Proceed with the decalcification oper-
ations as described in the paragraph
"Descaling"
Thoroughly rinse the appliance as
described in the chapter "Descaling"
