On File / Not On File

The host checks that the bar code sent by the IS1000 laser reader is present in the base.
This mode is only available when using the RS232 interface.
If the bar code:
• Is present in the base (On File), the host sends character 7E h to the laser reader which
sounds an "On File" beep
• Is absent from the base (Not On File), the host sends character 7F h to the laser reader
which sounds a "Not On File" beep
The laser reader waits for acknowledgment from the radio base during time-out T1, whose
default value is 200 ms. If it does not receive the acknowledgment from the radio base, the
laser reader sounds a long low-pitched beep (transmission not OK).
Then the laser reader waits for acknowledgment from the host during time-out T2, whose
default value is 3 s. During this time-out, the operator cannot read another code.
When it receives the acknowledgment from the host, the laser reader sounds an On File or
Not On File beep, according as the bar code is present in or absent from the base.
If it does not receive the acknowledgment, the laser reader sounds a long low-pitched
beep (transmission not OK).
The radio base also waits for acknowledgment from the host during time-out T3, whose
default value is 2 s.
To configure this mode and timers, refer to the IS1000 Configuration Guide.
!
Note:
The On File/Not On File Character sends by the host can be changed by other characters.
Refer to the IS1000 Configuration Guide.
